Bert Sanders

Inducted in 2023
Bert Sanders graduated summa cum laude in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in computer system engineering. He would go on to earn a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology the following year. In 2006, the state of Arkansas called him back home, and he took a job with Acxiom in Conway. After spending 5 years in Central Arkansas, he would join JB Hunt as a software engineer, where he would play a key part in rolling out JB Hunt’s first mobile applications. In 2019, Bert would join Walmart, where he currently works as a Staff Software Engineer. For the last 3 years, he has led modernization and scaling efforts for Walmart’s in-store pricing system, enabling no-touch digital shelf labelling and cloud-powered checkout. While at the U of A, Bert frequently harnessed the computing power of the CSCE lab to make sure that the Razorbacks finished atop any ESPN poll they appeared in. The crowning achievement was an online poll that resulted in the selection of the Razorbacks to the 2000 Cotton Bowl (at least according to legend… The team was pretty good on the field too!). The Razorbacks won the poll, and the game over Texas. Bert now lives in Bentonville with his wife, Lyndsey, and their two daughters, Kate and Harper Ann.
